Crime of the week: Attempted robbery

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on June 18, 2011 in the 300 block of Hood St. The victim reported that he answered a knock on his door at approximately 11:09 p.m. Upon opening the door, the victim observed a black male suspect wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt over top of a black t-shirt wielding a knife. The unknown suspect pointed the knife at the victim and said “You know what this is.” The suspect was described as being in his mid 20’s, approximately 6’ tall and weighing about 170 lbs. The victim slammed the door before the suspect could make entry into the residence. Officers were called to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.
